nature & travel photography by naomi grabenhorst

hi! i’m naomi

lovely to meet you!

I’ve been a professional photographer for eight years, but I’ve loved photography since I could pick up my dad’s camera. Documenting the natural world around me so that everyone can see and experience everything this beautiful planet has to offer is my greatest passion, and I jump at every opportunity I get to discover something or somewhere new. So far, I’ve been able to visit almost every national park in the West and travel further afield to the East Coast, Canada, and even Taiwan!

My mission is to see as much of the world as possible, and to help as many other people as possible explore and appreciate these natural wonders no matter what limitations they might face. Check out the map below to see where we’ve been, or discover someplace new in one of the featured articles above! I can’t wait to take you along on our adventures. :)

why “northwest hearts”?

I’ve lived in Oregon most of my life, and I was born even further north in the tiny Washington town of Bellingham. The Pacific Northwest has always been my home, but in that way that a place gets in your veins and feels like a part of you.

My brothers and I grew up running barefoot through our backyard in Grants Pass, where the mountains curl around you like protective arms and where summer storms light up the ridgeline. Every summer, we would pack up our tents and sleeping bags and head for the same campsite just south of Tillamook where we’d live on hot dogs and ice cream and sand-castle-building for a week, and we’d pack them up again every Labor Day weekend for family reunions in Blaine. I met my husband Philip in my hometown of Corvallis, after he had moved there from where he had grown up just up the windward side of the Coast Range.

No matter where we go on our travels, the Pacific Northwest is home, and it has these two hearts tied up in it forever. <3
